Landscape

In an evolutionary sense, why do we marvel at vast landscapes? In fact, what exactly is the feeling that you get when you look over a mountaintop at an expanse 50 miles out? Is it humbling? If so, how was this an evolutionary advantageous trait that most people in the human population posses?
